Unit 2: Places and communities

In this unit we learned the diferrent types of writting (formal , unformal and neutral).

Informal Writting:
It is  similar to a spoken conversation, may include slang, figures of speech, broken syntax, asides and so on.

Informal writing takes a personal tone as if you were speaking directly to the  audience .

Formal Writting:
You need to be as thorough as possible with your approach to each topic when you are using a formal style. Each main point needs to be introduced, elaborated and concluded.

No contractions should be used to simplify words (in other words use "It is" rather than "It's")

A formal writing style is not necessarily “better” than an informal style, rather each style serves a different purpose and care should be taken in choosing which style to use in each case.

Exercise in class

Dear sr or madam
Good morning  I will be grateful if you could inform me more about this incredible opportunity, how many hours of work per day, and how many is the pay, because I want to improve my English and  this is the best way to do it . I think I am your better choice because I know almost the world and the best places to visit in each country, and I will be a good tour guide. I hope you might also let me know about what does it mean “the responsible for looking after the general welfare” because I have taken curse in nursing so I know how to act  and respond at any event. If you think I am a good choice, I will be available for an interview but only in evening please.

I would like to thank you in advance.

Best wishes

Gabriela Sálamo

Exercise out class
For this unit we wrote about some beautiful place and foods  in a country, so I choosed Venezuela Beacuse I am for there.

Do you want to visit a different country this year? What about going to Venezuela?

Venezuela is a beautiful country full of diversity culture and many festivals where you can go at any time of the year.

If I were you, I would go to the Angel waterfall one of the Seven Wonders of the World , If you are interesting of this place remember to bring a lot of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, sweater and  mosquito repellent. This is one of the  most incredible tour because you have to camp so you will be in contact with the nature, at night you will see many stars in the sky, so you should try this tour. If you like the beaches, the margarita island is your better choice, it’s full of beautiful beaches, make sure you go to the chapel of the Valley Virgin the worship of the all Venezuelan.

If you prefer the cold you should go to Mérida, it’s a beautiful place full of crafts, in this place you can also visit Eagle peak, but make sure to bring a lot of sweater because there are snow. A  lot of people like the Dunes Choir, it’s like a desert, in my opinion it’s not so good because it’s very hot, but if you want to try something new this is the place for you.
The food it’s very varied but you should try these options:
CACHAPA:  it is made from a puree of corn, sugar, salt and oil. It is normally then folded over with a large piece of a soft white cheese inside. It is traditionally served with breakfast or at "once" a snack with tea. Sometimes it is accompanied by a side of fried pork.

PABELLÓN CRIOLLO: It is a simple dish of shredded beef and black beans served on a bed of white rice. It almost always is accompanied by a fried egg (Pabellón a Caballo) or with fried plantain slices (Pabellón con Barandas) the meat is sometimes replaced by fish during lent. It is the Venezuelan national dish.

If you want to know about the Venezuela culture you should go to the Carnivals, it’s the most incredible thing; you will see the people playing with water in the street, and also music and customer parades.  The best option of transportation it is to  rent a car

For this unit I have been practiced a lot the formal and informal writting
